Itinerary 6-10
Day 6 GALAPAGOS ISLANDS
After breakfast we will continue our activities in the school. Lunch and in the afternoon we will go to Junco Laguna, the only freshwater spring of the island, and crater of an extinct volcano. Here we will find stilts, White-cheeked pintail ducks and Common Gallinules. Part of the trip will be made by bike. At the end of the day we’ll return to Jaqueline or Nelly’s homes. Dinner and overnight.
Day 7 GALAPAGOS ISLANDS
We will finish our social work, and say good bye to our new friends. After lunch we will go down to port, where we will embark our speedboat and navigate to Kicker Rock and Puerto Grande where we will have a great snorkel. Late afternoon we will return to our house for dinner and overnight.
Kicker Rock is a vertical tuff cone that abruptly juts up almost 500 feet out of the ocean. Erosion has split the rock and given it its characteristic shape. The vessels cruise around the sheer cliffs looking for Blue-footed boobies, frigate birds and sea lions that line the shore.
The cove of Puerto Grande is located on the northwestern coast of San Cristobal, It is ideal for swimming and snorkeling. Puerto Grande is a sandy beach where you can spot many seabirds in the area but it is not known for any particular colonies.
Day 8 QUITO
Breakfast and transfer to the airport to catch your flight back to Quito.
You will arrive back to Quito at approximately mid afternoon. Back to the central area, you will have time for shopping; you will visit the handicraft market. This place offers souvenirs from all over the country. This is the chance to practice your Spanish and bargain the price with the local sellers. Dinner at the hotel.
Day 9 – QUITO
This morning you will travell to the old town, a very traditional area of Quito, which was declared a Humanity Heritage site by UNESCO, you will enjoy the view of the city from El Panecillo, a hill where the monument of a Virgin with wings has being raised, she is called the virgin of Quito.
After this city tour, we will depart to the Middle of the World Museum, “Inti Ñan”, where you can learn about the experiments that show why Ecuador is the middle of the world, and enjoy a traditional lunch. Farewell dinner at the hotel.
Day 10 DEPARTURE
Breakfast and departure to the airport.
