Volunteer role
There are different areas where you may be able to work depending on how long you are staying and your personal interests. Below some of the daily duties.
- Feeding animals and cleaning up cages.
- Participate when teaching the community about animal conservation. Local school visits.
- Assist in construction and maintenance work to improve animal living conditions.
- Make sure animals are calm and are not suffering.
- Report to supervisor anything unusual you notice with the animals.
Daily schedule
7:30 am Volunteers have breakfast together before setting off to their daily tasks.
8:15 am Staff members and volunteers get together to allocate groups in different activities and diurnal animal food is prepared.
12:00 am The groups get together to prepare lunch, and rest until 3:00 pm.
After lunch, volunteers have until around 3pm to rest and play.
3:00 pm Afternoon activities include: cleaning up cages, make toys for animals, fix the clinic supplies, among others.
5:00pm Free activities: table games, relax at the volunteer’s house, rent a horse at a nearby hacienda, go to the local market, etc.
Working hours: Monday to Friday (8:30 – 5:00pm) Saturday – until noon.
