Program Overview

The project was founded in 2001. Its main goal is to promote, support and offer efficient attention to the elderly. The foundation makes real concrete actions that can promote an active, worthy, healthy, participative and productive old age.

In Ecuador, it is evident the great number of elderly are beggars or in very poor economic straits. There are more than a million elderly people in Ecuador that live without public assistance and furthermore suffer the abandonment of their families and society in general. The program creates a space for them and offers services in many areas -- physical and personal growth, recreational and occupational therapy, medical attention, education and qualification workshops -- among others that enable the elderly to greatly improve their quality of life. There is an average of 100 seniors per day that attend the foundation, so your help will be much appreciated.

Location: Quito, the capital city.
Accomodation: Homestay or student residence.
Meals: Half-board provided, seven days a week.
Dates: Year round, according to avilability.
Program duration: Minimum two weeks +
Requirements: Minimum age 18. Basic-to-intermediate Spanish level.
Volunteers should have an entusiastic attitude and a keen interest in the medical field.
Activities will be assigned according to paticipant’s experience.
