NGO STREET CHILDREN MEDICAL DEPARTMENT

Volunteer role
Volunteers help out in the medical clinic keeping records, entering information about new patients (height, weight, blood pressure and temperature measurements, updating their charts or creating new ones), and, in some cases, are able to observe physician-patient interactions.
Daily schedule
- 8:00 Breakfast at homestay or student residence.
- 9:00 Work on the medical clinic office duties: updating medical histories for the patients, label medicine bags, and other duties asked by the Doctor.
- 11:30 Patients start arriving at noon approximately; you will be able to assist with the following:
Taking blood pressure, height, weight, and temperature.
Assist on minor surgeries if required.
- 12:30 Lunch.
- 1:30 - 4:30 Assist the doctor or nurse on the above mentioned medical tasks.
Working hours: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday (approximately 9:00am – 4:30pm).
You can also volunteer during the mornings and other days of the week on the street outreach program, created to keep children out of the streets.
Please note: Itineraries and activities are subject to change, according to the time of the year, and to the Elder Foundation needs.
