Volunteer role
Volunteers will provide general care and assitstance in looking after the children. This will involve playing games, help children withe their homework during the afternoons, etc. You will be assigned activities depending on your level of Spanish.

The Street Outreach program
The program objective is to establish positive relationships with the children, to encourage them to attend or return to school and to assist them with immediate problems. You will help to develop academic, artistic and social activities for street and working children. On this programme you will work with todlers, and children up to 8 years old.

Orientation Meeting
You will attend an orientation session with our in-country team. This is to cover important safety and security information. You'll also get some tips about sight-seeing options for your time off and a walking tour to the surrounding tourist area to help you get familiarized with the city where you can find internet cafés, restaurants, mail office, etc.
Accomodation and Meals
Student residence is available for the program. You will share with other international or local students who visit Quito.
At Home stays you will have the opportunity to practice your Spanish skills and learn about the Ecuadorian culture.
Half board at both accommodation options is included. During the weekends you can enjoy nice trips near Quito, the jungle, or the Andes. Our in country staff will advise you on the best options, and offer organized activities.
Getting to the Project / Communication
Your accommodation will be at approx 30 minutes from the project, by public bus. You will receive all the information on bus routes at the Orientation session. Transportation budget will be approx USD 10.00 per week.
Regarding communication, Quito offers a variety of internet facilities all over the city. You can also buy or rent a cell phone, you will receive assistance at our office in Quito.
Time Off
Quito is an excellent access point for weekend travel all around the country. There are also many museums, parks, commercial centers, cafes, restaurants and a lively nightlife (including salsa dancing!) in Quito.
Also, exciting adventure activities around Quito include daily guided treks up the Cotopaxi glacier, as well as ascending the new cable car the "Teleferico" to a height of 4500 meters to take-in the amazing views of the Andes Mountains and Quito in the valley far below.
Another must-see is "la Mitad del Mundo" at the equator just north of Quito where you can stand with one foot in each hemisphere.
Spanish lessons are another option you have to improve your language skills while in Ecuador.
What to Bring
Quito's weather is variable. Sunny days, but will get a bit cold in the afternoons and nights.
- Comfortable clothes, and jacket.
- Sunscreen.
**If you wish to do a contribution to the project, you can bring school material, such as: pencils, notebooks, color pencils, etc. This will be very much appreciated.
