TEACHING PROGRAMS
ANDES
Program Overview

The school year runs from September through June in Ecuador's Andean region and from April to January in the coastal region and Galapagos Islands. Even though students are required to attend grades one through twelve, public education is not available for many poor children, especially for those in remote rural areas. Some public and community schools have only one or two teachers for the entire school (approximately 60 children).

The project works with schools in poor areas of the city, where children do not have the same facilities as in a private school, where their lifestyles are different, and where their parents have to make a huge effort to send them to school.

The Teach Ecuador program has been established to give children the opportunity to learn new and interesting things in accordance with their age, and to give them tools to improve their level of education. Volunteers serve as the basic human resource, and all your patience and love becomes the basis to give these children hope for a better future.
